About the OMCBA

The Ottawa Medical Control Board Authority is financed through the three hospitals; those being Holland, North Ottawa and Zeeland Community Hospitals. In addition the fire departments in the area make a yearly contribution along with the OCSD e-units and the three Ambulance Services Life EMS, North Ottawa EMS and American Medical Response. The total budget for the year is approximately $40,000 per year.

The Goals of the Ottawa Medical Control Board Authority:

  1. Develop protocols to be followed by pre-hospital emergency medical providers.
  2. Provide quality review procedures for patient care.
  3. Promote training and education.
  4. Coordinate emergency pre-hospital medical services.
  5. Implementation of an automatic defibrillator program for area fire and police departments.
  6. Development of appropriate policies and procedures for pre-hospital emergency medical services.
